A small portion of the 2019 Monbazar bottled with no filtration to investigate its ageing potential. Soft stone fruit, honeycomb, with great minerality & acidity intact.

Winemaking: Hand-harvested in mid-October. Long pressing (five hours). Fermentation with indigenous yeasts - this lasted for 12 months because of the sugar concentration, with phases of intense activity. Once the balance between alcohol and residual sugar was reached, indigenous fermentation. Bottling carried out immediately after fermentation to limit sulphur use as much as possible. Aged in stainless steel.

Yield: 20 hl/ha
A 40-hectare estate, fully organic since 2013. The 8th generation to work at the estate; Vincent Alexis joined his father in 2010 and talked him into bottling their own wines instead of selling them for bulk blending. 25ha are white. Vincent has recently planted lots more traditional grape varieties, Sulphur is only used on bottling for the Bergecrac Blanc and the Monbazillac. Soils are clay on limestone with iron and flint in the Pecharmant vineyards.
