2018 - Col Fondo
Their first organic foray; a blend of skin-contact Siegerrebe with Pinot Noir & Meunier.
A cloudy amber-coloured evocation of stone fruits & elderflowers with a fresh acidity.

Vintage: 2018
Winemaking: Organic Siegerrebe, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir were picked by hand and fermented using natural yeast in stainless steel. They retained around 30% of the Siegerrebe skins to add further flavours and texture to the wine. The wine was then blended and aged in tanks before bottling. An addition of 8g/l organic sugar was made to spark fermentation in the bottle (next year they plan to use grape must).

Black Mountain Vineyard is a three hectare labour of love planted by Mark & Laura Smith in 2009. In the shadow of the Brecon Beacons, their South-Facing slope in Herefordshire is planted with hybrids well suited to the area. Organic certified since 2018, and with no additions in the cellar, Mark & Laura are producing excellent sparkling wines with ripeness & balance.
