“Picked from the En Vaucurien parcel in the commune of Volnay, high up in the middle of pine forests. Really one of the best sites we have, with lots of broken limestone. The small stones give good drainage over the red clay. We started working there in 2018. It's cool climate, with great minerality: and makes very good pet nat.”

“In the Goutte d'Or the Aligoté really struggles to grow, it's super steep, but it makes beautiful yellow, freckled berries- like the proper Aligoté Doré- but it can be a pain to ferment, it's quite low nitrogen. The Aligoté Goutte d'Or can sometimes be a bit funky because of that slow fermentation.”

The second vintage of this cuvee, mineral, pure fruited and long. A rainy, cold year in the Hatues Côtes, which lengthened the maturation of the grapes. Ages beautifully.

"An Assemblage of all the Pinot Noir parcels except Vaucuriens and Goutte d'Or. They're all located quite close to each other so were picked and fermented at the same time. When we tasted each vineyard, none stood out particularly to do a micro cuvee, so in the end, everything was blended into this one. But we were very pleased with 2019; it was bad for frost, but there were so few grapes per vine that it gave such fantastic, interesting juice."

"In 2019 we made 'Corail' as there wasn't enough fruit from each old parcel to fill a tank per-vineyard. When you work without sulphur, it's hard to make something clean when there's inertia fermenting, and very small zero-sulphur cuvees are really hard to finish without too much volatility."

A real one-off cuvee, a little botrytised fruit that a neighbour had going spare, rows of Pinot Beurot pressed to barrel and fermented slowly over a year. Named after the song Golden Brown - check the colour!

Rosie Red comes from a single vineyard in Mavilly planted in the 1950's. They took over the vines the same year Christian & Morgane's daughter was born and so they named the parcel for her: Vigne de Rose. The soil is quite specific here, a mix of sandstone, clay and limestone. It's south-facing and surrounded by more forest, and lots of cows.

The Hautes Cotes Nature 22 is an assemblage of the majority of the Pinot Noir parcels, comprising nearly three hectares grown over clay limestone. Vines are between 20-80 years old. The 2022 vintage benefits from profound heat balanced by well-timed rainfall and cool weather in the last two weeks of the vintage.

"The terroir of these two parcels is probably the most interesting of them, but they can lead to much more variable wines, so its not one that can be made every year. They're above Meloisey at the top of the hill before you reach the forest. On white marl mainly, alongside a little red clay. Being east south-east, they get the morning sun (Aube=daybreak) - it yields much more linear, mineral wines."
