2022 - Owl's Wine
2022 - Owl's Wine
Made in the ‘Clairet’ style we love so much: that magic halfway-point between a rose and light red where the fruit is deep, the acidity is bright, and the refreshment is big. Soft, juicy, high-toned fun.
Cuvée: Owl’s Wine
Style: Still
Colour: Rose/Red
Grapes/Blend: Pinot Meunier/Chardonnay
ABV: 11%
Vintage: 2022
Winemaking: Hand harvested from Ham Street, Kent. Pinot Meunier / Chardonnay was foot crushed by Emily Rose & Al at 10 pm on October 1, had a couple of daily punch downs before a very gentle pressing at 5.30 am on the morning of October 4 (a surprise wine standards inspection called for an emergency trip back to London). The wine was racked to one 225 litre barrel the following day. The wine was bottled by hand 11 months later on September 14 2023 into reused glass, labelled using reused paper and bottled in reused cardboard. All movements by gravity, no additions.
Sulphur: None added
Soil: Silt, loam and clay
Owl's Wine is the culmination of a 12-month collaborative project beginning when Al had the opportunity to make some wine from fruit grown by Lucie & Jules at Ham Street in Kent, 2022. The 2022 wines were produced by Al with the help (and cellar space) of Nicola & Daniel at Offbeat. All bottled in reused bottles collected from London venues, packaged in reused cardboard and labelled with Riso printed labels on reused paper.
