Sometimes winemakers just get a wine and a season perfectly in sync.
Brand Brothers – Pfalz, Germany
Daniel and Jonas created this little beauty for the scorching 2018 summer.
2017 Wilder Satz – Müller-Thurgau, Chardonnay, Silvaner, Scheurebe
Fresh and youthful with herby notes and pithy, raw grapefruit. Alcoholic, cloudy lemonade!
From vineyards located on various spots in the valley and some on cooler sites on Bockenheimer hill.
Mixed methods of production for each grape. Chardonnay direct-press; Müller-Thurgau whole-bunch in barrel; Scheurebe pressed with basket press and fermented on old oak; Silvaner harvested a bit earlier than usual to maintain acidity. Blended before bottling.
The first time we have had Gamay specialist Rémi's serious rose (he didn't release it in 2016). Along with a new plot of white grapes he started farming just after the frost in 2017. The vines were hard pruned after being almost abandoned by the owners and still they gave great fruit.
2017 Samplemousse – Gamay
A full and exciting rosé with structure, under-ripe strawberry with a balanced acidity. The unique grapefruit flavour comes from the parcel's granite soil.
Hand-harvested, cold maceration for four hours, fermentation in cellar in fibreglass for two to three weeks. Blended with wine from 2016. On lees until bottling (end of April).
2017 Michto – Melon de Bourgone
The first white vintage from Rémi. A rich bruised-apple texture with a hint of salt and a mineral finish. Retains freshness with a pronounced acidity.
Planted on micro granite and schist. Hand-harvested, Cold maceration overnight before pressing. Fermentation in fibreglass. Filtered to prevent any bacteria developing with the tiny bit of sugar left. No added sulphur.
