The Bottle Harvest 2023: our new project.

Working with growers on home turf has been an inspiring experience for us, and one that allows us to be more hands-on with closing the loop on the waste and by-products of producing, shipping and selling wine.

We've already had success collecting cardboard boxes from wholesale customers for some of our English winemakers to recycle as packaging. Offbeat wines for instance, have been distributed in re-used cardboard since their 2021 releases.

We're now taking the process a step further. This spring we'll be working closely with a handful of bars and restaurants to collect their empty wine bottles in our electric van. The team at Sustainable Wine Solutions will be cleaning and sorting them for us, before we drive them out to our growers in Wiltshire and Kent to bottle their new releases.

Though the wine industry is notoriously wasteful, we're committed to making a difference. This is the beginning of an exciting plan to have all of our English still wines bottled in reused bottles by next year.

It's a big goal, but one we're confident we can reach. We're in a unique position: working in a city FULL of imported glass bottles, surrounded, more or less by forward thinking winemakers. Hopefully leading by example, our growers and ourselves can forge a path for reducing the impact of our industry.
