On Sunday March 3, on the first sunny day any of us had seen in weeks, we gathered under the beams as the light literally got in, at an ex-coffee warehouse in Stockport.
WTLGI was kind enough to host fourteen winemaking and brewing projects, together representing a handful of the cutting edge growing and working with organic produce in the UK today.
A British Wine Fair then, sparked and organised by our dear friends at Isca and Where The Light Gets In, was certainly the first fair of its kind in the north (and one of the few of its kind so far in the country) - championing this blossoming community of enthusiastic and passionate makers & drinkers growing on our shores.
We reckon that the UK is probably one of the most underdeveloped wine making areas in the world right now, and at the beginning of a hugely exciting journey. With so much to explore here, grapes, styles, regions; everyone is learning constantly. We count ourselves very lucky to be playing a part in the early stages of an exciting movement.
It's a true privilege to be able to bring people together like this, and in some way help facilitate this meeting of ideas, stories, knowledge and joy.
Thank you to Jacob Timms from Where The Light Gets In for his photos capturing the day.
