Philippe Delmee was a maths teacher who was tired of the constraints of the classroom - he made the move to winemaking in 2006. After studying for two years, he started working with Benoit Courault and Domaines des Griottes, and Benoit helped him find a one-hectare parcel in Faye d’Anjou.
He farms around 6ha across 16 parcels around Faye d’Anjou and Faveraye; the soils are mostly porous sand and schist with only a little clay.
The vines are a mix of Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Grolleau and some Pineaud'Aunis.
Sulphur is only added in the pied de cuvee for each wine.

WINES
100% Chenin. Direct press, fermentation in barrel for 10 months.
40 year old Grolleau vines. Whole bunch maceration for 8 1/2 weeks, hence the name of the wine. One year ageing in vats.
Direct press Chenin. Fermented in barrels for 10 months.
Philippe took two passes of this plot during the 2019 harvest. The first for Ca Faye Douze, the second, two days later was for Ca Faye Treize. Softer and fruitier than the early-picked ‘Douze.’
Destemmed Cab Franc. A bit wild on the nose when you uncork it, then it opens up, crunchy, very delicate in the mouth.
This has really softened as Philippe’s winemaking has developed. Supple, sappy fruit and delicate aromatics.
A cherry juice-bomb from the sun-blasted 2020 vintage. Philippe remains the master of executing when to pick to retain great acidity. Balanced, chillable, perfect vin de soif.
Whole bunch, light and crunchy Cabernet Franc with spice and a little spritz.
Not red, not white: pure Anjou. More grip in the 2019, Chenin’s acidity picking out highlights in the Cab Franc.
